The NECA’s Network of Entrepreneurial Women (NNEW), Lagos Chapter, on Thursday, August 20, 2026, held its annual Teenpreneurship 2026 programme virtually, with the theme “DREAM IT! BUILD IT! LEAD IT!”.
The programme was designed to inspire young people aged 10–19 to develop an entrepreneurial mindset, acquire practical skills and explore opportunities in business, technology and creativity.
The event featured opening remarks by the Chairperson of NNEW Lagos Chapter, Dr. Ekaete Aniekan Etiebet, followed by a series of interactive and practical sessions aimed at equipping the teenagers with relevant skills for the future.
A major session, “Dream It! Build It! Lead It!”, was facilitated by Dr. Ibukun Odusote of Digital Peers International, who encouraged the teenagers to dream boldly, develop their ideas and take leadership of their future. She also encouraged them to acquire at least one digital skill, highlighting the importance of digital skills in today’s world and the opportunities they can create for learning, entrepreneurship and future careers.
Participants also benefited from practical baking and sewing sessions, facilitated by Mrs. Margaret Ibatareh, Head Chef, Oaty’s Delight Food, and Mrs. Yetunde Adeniran, CEO, Eagle’s Couture, respectively. The sessions gave the teenagers hands-on
exposure to practical skills that can be developed into entrepreneurial ventures.
The “AI for Teenpreneurs” session, facilitated by Mrs. Faith Desmond, Lead Consultant, Leanx Consulting Limited, gave participants a practical demonstration of how Artificial Intelligence can support their education, creativity and everyday activities. She demonstrated how teenagers can use AI to solve and understand mathematics problems, create flyers and other designs, conduct research, generate and improve ideas, summarise study materials, assist with writing and presentations, learn new topics and develop business ideas. The session helped the teenagers understand that AI can be a useful learning and productivity tool when used responsibly.
The programme concluded with an interactive question-and answer session and key takeaways, followed by *closing remarks and appreciation by Mrs. Idayat Briggs*. The event ended with a group photograph.
Through Teenpreneurship 2026, NNEW Lagos Chapter reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing the next generation of entrepreneurs by equipping young people with practical knowledge, creativity, leadership skills and exposure to emerging opportunities in business and technology.
